Your Hero's Journey

How to Use the Hero's Journey as a Design-Thinking + Foresight Tool | by Leah Zaidi | NYC Design | Medium

From the moment of your birth, you have been on a journeyy of growing, learning, aging and aventually dying. For many people there comes a time in life when you facr some challenges. Maybe your old friends have drifted away. Perhaps your job has become more difficult and less rewarding. Have your children grown and left on their own journeys. Do the challenges you your are f facing feel scary and overwhelming? Maybe it is time for a changee.

First, although you may feel alone and overwhelmed, there is a path you can follow. It isn't easy and it will require that you step out of your comfort zone and look deeply into the mirror of who you are. This path is often called "The Hero's Journey".

As a coachm, my job is to help you navigate that journey, get to know yourself better, face your personal dragons and become the person you really want to be.

This journey (like any experience) has a beginning, a middle and an end. Think of these as stages or chapters in your life.Although you can skip ahead, you will better understand and integrate your own journey if you start at the begining.

This first stage is called "Waking Up" In this stage, you will learn lots about yoursel. You may take free assessments, read articles, watch videos and learn how to bring teachers and mentors into your life.

The next stage involves "Cleaning Up" the messes you have made or simply stepped in in your life so far.

Once you have learned how to face, accept and forgive yourself and any other relatrionships that need cleaning up, yo are ready for the Standing Up stage. This is when you learn and practice the tools and skills that will prepare you for the final (and possibly the most challenging) stage: Showing Up in the world as the magnificant person yuo really are.

Continuous Growth and Evolution

Working through the stages of growth can be like walking up a spiral staircase. As you stand up and show up, you will probably discover parts of yourself that you need to explore and even clean up. This is inherent in the notion of continuous evolution and growth.

Interpersonal Skills and Practices

This page provides a list of skills your can develop and practices you can establish at each state of your journey. Eacj ski.. or practice includes a brief description and includes a link to a "Deeper Dive" that describes the skill or practice in more detail.

The Gold Mine

For many years, I have collected articles, videos, tips and tools that have helped me grow as a person, partner, parent and coach. That collection is publically available as the "Public Research Library"

The searchable ibrary contains almost 300 articles organized into over 70 categories. and a dozen media types. You can find over two dozen free self-assessments, a,pst 3- videos and lots more, all of it easily sorted and searched. Now that the library is operational, I will be adding more content to it on a regular basis. And if you wanto to recommend some content, select the Recommend menu choice and compelte the form.

Deeper Dives

I have written over 100 blog posts, but due to technical difficulties, only a few of them are ready for viewing. More will be added as soon as I get them reviewed and proof read.
