About Bob Jones
I grew up in a highly dysfunctional family and learned to hide my fears, my sadness and my anger by becoming a computer software developer. Computers don’t judge me. They were safe. I wrote some amazing programs, some of them way ahead of their time.
When I made it into my 50’s, I began to realize that, although my programming skills paid the rent, there was something missing. I was troubled by self-limiting beliefs like “I am not good enough” or “I am not loveable”.
In 1991 I took a training called “Context, The Pursuit of Excellence“. It had the same lineage as “The Forum” from Landmark. This was my introduction to personal growth work. And that growth work persists to this day.
Later in the 90’s I took basic training in Gestalt. We sat in circles and spilled our guts. At times, it was brutal. As we sat in circle and went deep, the almost constant refrain was, “Bob, you are in your head”. At first, this was rather annoying, but it started to scare me. “What am I missing?” I asked myself. The answer I heard, spoken quietly in my ear was simple: listen. So I started listening to others with as much conscious awareness as I was able to muster. Slowly, I learned to hear the difference between speaking from my heart instead of my head.
In 1999, my counselor attended a training from the Mankind Project called “The New Warrior Training Adventure“. I took this training in November, 2001. It saved my marriage and my life. Now, over 20 years later, I have staffed this training over 50 times. It has been integrated into my life in more ways than I can count.
